His work focuses on urban media environments as sites for critical and creative engagements with the city, public art, and information.\r\n\r\nHe is currently Assistant Professor of Digital Creation and Communication in the School of\u00a0Professional Communication\u00a0at Ryerson University and Director, North America, of the\u00a0Media Architecture Institute<\/a>. He is also Co-Director of\u00a0RyeLights<\/a>\u00a0at Ryerson University. Previously, he has held positions as Assistant Professor of Digital Media and Culture at Portland State University in the\u00a0School of Film, Adjunct Professor at the Ontario College of Art and Design University in the\u00a0Digital Futures\u00a0MA\/MDes\/MFA program, and Professor and Academic Coordinator of the Bachelor of Digital Experience Design program in the School of Design\u00a0at George Brown College.\r\n\r\nHis writing has appeared in\u00a0the\u00a0Journal of Visual Culture<\/em>,\u00a0Space and Culture, Leonardo<\/em>,\u00a0Public Art Dialogue<\/em>, and the\u00a0Journal of Curatorial Studies<\/em>\u00a0and in edited collections on\u00a0Museum and Gallery Design\u00a0and the\u00a0History of Film Studies. He is the author of\u00a0The Building as Screen: A History, Theory, and Practice of Massive Media<\/em>,<\/span><\/a>(Amsterdam University Press, 2020).\r\n\r\nHis\u00a0creative work<\/a>\u00a0has been exhibited at\u00a0The Bentway\u00a0in Toronto, and at\u00a0Open Signal\u00a0and the\u00a0Portland Winter Light Festival\u00a0in Portland, Oregon. Writings and presentations on these works have appeared at the Media Architecture Summit 2015 in Beijing, the 2013-14 Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism in Shenzhen\/Hong Kong, the International Symposium for Electronic Art (ISEA) 2013 in Sydney, and ISEA 2011 in Istanbul.\r\n\r\nColangelo holds an MA in Cultural Studies and Interactive Media from Goldsmiths College, University of London and a PhD from the York-Ryerson Graduate Programme in Communication and Culture in Toronto.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nMichael Dick<\/strong> is a PhD Candidate (ABD) in Information Studies at the University of Toronto, where he has research and teaching affiliations with the Faculty of Information and with the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information, and Technology.\u00a0Michael's research focuses on the political economy of Information and Communications Technologies and technological innovation. In particular, his dissertation examines the implications of copyright modernization in Canada on the creative industries sector. Previously, his research focused on the history of the Web, social media innovation models, and the implications of online networks on media production practices.\r\n\r\nMichael holds an MA in Communication and Culture from York and Ryerson Universities and an Honours BA in Radio and Television Arts and English from Ryerson University. He has presented and published widely in leading academic and professional venues and, in addition to his applied research, he maintains currency in the field through his professional practice. Specifically, Michael provides research, strategic, and technical consulting services to a number of academic and industry clients in fields as diverse as intellectual property, technology policy, and corporate communications.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nCatherine Jenkins<\/strong> completed her PhD in Communication and Culture, a joint Ryerson-York program. Her medical humanities research explores the impact of medical imaging technologies on patient-physician communication, and the medicalization of comic book superheroes.
