Public Health Ontario (2021) describes <strong>health promotion<\/strong> as a \u201cprocess of implementing a range of social and environmental interventions that <strong>enable people<\/strong> and <strong>communities<\/strong> to <strong>increase control<\/strong> over and to improve their health.\u201d An important part of this statement are the words \u201cenable\u201d and \u201ccontrol\u201d because health promotion is focused on promoting the agency of the client. Health promotion is an important component of preventing disease.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Health<\/strong> is a <strong>resource for everyday living<\/strong>, meaning that health is needed for social, economic, and personal prosperity and growth (Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, 1986).
