Butler, 2015[\/footnote].\u00a0There are calls to action organized into priority areas including, education, justice, child welfare, and health[footnote]University of Saskatchewan, 2018[\/footnote].\r\n<h3>Summary of the Calls to Action for Health # 18 -24<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Acknowledge that the current state of health attributed to Indigenous people is the result of government policy including IRS<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Close the gaps in health inequities by providing appropriate services<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Indigenous people living off reserve need care too<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Healing centers to heal the harms of residential schools<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Offer Indigenous Healing methods as well as Western Medicine<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Increase the number or Indigenous health care workers<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Provide cultural competence training to all health care professionals[footnote]Truth and Reconciliation Commission, 2015[\/footnote]<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThe two National LTC Standards[footnote]HSO, 2023[\/footnote][footnote]CSA, 2022[\/footnote]) made recommendations that are congruent in the Calls to Action:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Implementing the principles of equity, inclusion, and diversity in the design and delivery of services<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Providing cultural competence training for all staff<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Zero tolerance for discrimination and racism<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Developing and designing individualized plans of care for each resident that is specific to their cultural and spiritual preferences<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Indigenous services in LTC<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Creating a culture where diversity is recognized and celebrated<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation Call of Action # 80<\/h3>\r\nSeptember 20th of every year is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation where Canadians are called upon to use this time:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>To learn more about the history, legacy, and outcomes of the Canadian Residential School System<\/li>\r\n \t<li>To recognize and honor the experiences of survivors, their families, and communities<\/li>\r\n \t<li>To reflect on unchecked biases and how these unchecked biases have impacted self-perceptions and relationships with Indigenous people<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n[footnote]Vukic et al., 2012[\/footnote]","rendered":"<h2>The Truth and Reconciliation Commission\u2019s 94 Calls to Action<\/h2>\n<p>The calls of action are recommended action items that aim to heal the legacy left by the Canadian Indian Residential School System<a class=\"footnote\" title=\"Exner-Pirot &amp;
