Leading in Healthcare: Developing Practice-Ready Professionals<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\r\n\"\"\r\n

This is a video-recorded, actor simulation aimed at developing College of Nurses of Ontario Entry-to-Practice (ETP) leadership competencies in a rapidly changing and complex adult acute care setting. The simulation focuses on the new graduate nurse acting in a charge nurse role in managing the staffing and patient care situations. The scenario will evolve through three scenes which will include changing staff availability in addition to a rapidly deteriorating patient.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Learning Outcomes\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

  1. Based on the concepts of transformational leadership theory, apply effective communication and decision-making approaches in a simulated charge nurse role.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
  2. Demonstrate conflict resolution strategies to de-escalate difficult interprofessional\/intraprofessional situations.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
  3. Formulate a realistic plan [of care] for a deteriorating patient that includes escalating the issues to appropriate members of the interprofessional\/intraprofessional team.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
  4. Demonstrate application of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusivity through interactions with healthcare staff, patients and families.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n \r\n
