{"id":53,"date":"2020-06-29T21:15:27","date_gmt":"2020-06-30T01:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pressbooks.library.ryerson.ca\/productionhandbook\/chapter\/line-set-policy\/"},"modified":"2021-09-21T13:39:29","modified_gmt":"2021-09-21T17:39:29","slug":"line-set-policy","status":"publish","type":"chapter","link":"https:\/\/pressbooks.library.torontomu.ca\/productionhandbook\/chapter\/line-set-policy\/","title":{"raw":"LINE SET POLICY","rendered":"LINE SET POLICY"},"content":{"raw":"<div class=\"line-set-policy\">\r\n<p class=\"import-BodyText\" style=\"margin-left: 5pt;\">For Operation of Counterweight Line Sets in the Mainstage<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Heading9\" style=\"margin-left: 5pt;\">MOVEMENT<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>all line sets are SINGLE PURCHASE; when you pull the rope, the pipe and carriage move in opposite directions at a movement and speed ratio of 1:1<\/li>\r\n \t<li>before a line set is moved<\/li>\r\n \t<li>the LOCKING RING and LOCK must be taken off; after movement, both must be put back on<\/li>\r\n \t<li>you must call out your movement of the line set so those on deck are aware of the movement and are paying attention to what is happening over their heads<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p class=\"import-BodyText\" style=\"text-align: center; margin-left: 21.7pt; margin-right: 51.15pt;\">Example: \u201cline set 21 going out or line set 15 coming in\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>you must wait for the Thank You response before moving the line setthe response must come from the far side of the stage or from a person near you, who is paying attention to the line set coming in and is watching the far side of the stage<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Be aware if people are on the grid, if so make sure they acknowledge you before a line set is moved<\/li>\r\n \t<li>NEAR IN, FAR OUT: When facing the fly rail, pulling on the nearest rope will bring the pipe in (down); pulling on the furthest rope will take the pipe out (up)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Whenever possible watch the pipe you are moving and do not stare at the ropes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p class=\"import-Heading9\" style=\"margin-left: 5pt;\">WEIGHTS and LOADING WEIGHTS<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Weights come in 2 sizes: FULL = 44 lbs and HALF = 22lbs<\/li>\r\n \t<li>It is assumed that a weight is a FULL weight unless otherwise specified<\/li>\r\n \t<li>All weight loading is to be done from the LOADING FLOOR, unless rigging situations make it impossible (check with the staff before loading any weight at stage level); ALL LOADERS MUST WEAR FALL ARREST EQUIPMENT<\/li>\r\n \t<li>The loading of carriages will be directed from the deck by the HEAD FLYPERSON, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, or their designate<\/li>\r\n \t<li>The fly rail must be clear of all people before weights are added or removed from any carriage<\/li>\r\n \t<li>The \u201cDanger Overhead\u201d sign must be across the doors<\/li>\r\n \t<li>An \"ALL CLEAR\" statement must be made by the HEAD FLYPERSON, or the person directing the loading, before weights are added or removed from any carriage<\/li>\r\n \t<li>\"COMPLETE\" responses will come from the LOADER upon the weighting or the unloading of the pipes<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Stored weights shall be stacked no more than 3 high, on the on stage side of the loading floor; they will be placed in piles of similar sizes<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p class=\"import-BodyText\" style=\"margin-left: 5pt;\">Example of a loading situation calling:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Head Flyperson (HFly) calls out what arbour to load and how many full and half weights<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Loading Gallery (LG) repeats what they have heard<\/li>\r\n \t<li>HFly calls back \u201cThat is Correct\u201d if it is the same as they originally called. Go back to the beginning if it is wrong.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>LG asks, \u201cIs the rail clear?\u201d<\/li>\r\n \t<li>HFly checks the 4 things below and shouts up, \u201cThe rail is clear.\u201d<\/li>\r\n \t<li>DSR door to caliper is closed<\/li>\r\n \t<li>USR door to hall has a sign &amp; chain across the door<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Beacon light is on<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Nobody is standing offstage of the SR floor-pockets<\/li>\r\n \t<li>When ready the LG calls out that they are starting to load.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>LG calls out when loading is complete<\/li>\r\n \t<li>HFly acknowledges with a, \u201cThank you.\u201d<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p class=\"import-BodyText\" style=\"margin-left: 5pt;\">Here is an actual example:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Could I get 3 full and 1 half weight loaded on Line-set 16? (Hfly)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Is that 3 full and 1 half weight loaded on line-set 16? (LG)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>That is correct. (Hfly)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Is the rail clear? (LG)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>(checks 4 things) The rail is clear. (Hfly)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Loading 3 full and 1 half onto line-set 16 (LG)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Loading Complete (LG)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Thank you!
