Introduction

Student Preparation and Pre-Briefing

Prior to participating in this simulation, students will be provided with the background to the simulation, scenario information, learning objectives, reflective activities and required readings.  Students will be expected to complete the required activities prior to engaging in the simulation.

Required Pre-simulation Readings and Resources

Students should familiarize themselves with the following leadership resources and key concepts reflected in this simulation. After reviewing the required readings, students are asked to reflect on the following:

  • current knowledge, skills and experiences related to leadership in nursing
  • attitudes towards leading and working with interprofessional teams.

Pre-Briefing

Following the INACSL best practices for pre-briefing (2021), faculty/facilitators should:

  • orient students to the simulation space, introduce technology and processes
  • establish a psychologically safe learning environment by reinforcing privacy and confidentiality with students
  • review anticipated learning objectives with students
