Acknowledgments

A special thank you to Professor Harald Bauder of the Graduate Program in Immigration and Settlement Studies for leading this project and taking the time to provide recommendations and guide us through the development process of this field trip. We also thank Hayden King, advisor to the Dean on Indigenous Education in the Faculty of Arts and Executive Director of the Yellowhead Institute, for his support, and Rachel Ressor, who co-authored the first edition of this fieldtrip, for the valuable resources and content that made it into the current edition of the fieldtrip.

Funding was provided by the Yeates School of Graduate Studies and the Office of the Dean of Arts.

Introduction

This website is intended to facilitate walking field trips involving particular sites located on or close to the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) campus. For each site, we identified several resources and included links to original sources. We structured this website by listing the sources followed by a brief description of the information from the source in bullet form. This brief description does not replace reading the original source(s) but is rather intended to help the reader navigate through the website.

This website contributes to knowledge and events relating to Indigenous people’s land and culture, focusing on the land that is currently occupied by TMU. This website is available for free to anyone who wishes to learn or educate themselves or others about Indigenous culture. Please use and share this website as a resource guide responsibly and with respect.
