Module 1, Ms. Gita Menon Video 1.1

Hello. My name is Gita Menon. I have a family, a son, who is 15 years old. I have a husband who I’ve been married.
And 16-17 years and I have come to you and I record my friend, my work within the library that you’re good.
She had similar problem to me. But now she’s free.

Module 1, Video 1.2

To tell you a little bit more about myself to tell you a little bit to tell you. To tell you a little bit more about myself. My family originally came from India. A place called Devanandapuram. In a state called Kerala. I’m only child. My mother and father are very happy together and they owned a store at home. Lots of books academics. They always loved to study and read. but I was late child, so they stayed at home and did a lot more store type work. They sold a lot more books than they actually read at the university. Anyway, but my mother died, 18 years ago my father thought. Hmm, let’s start a new life. He saved all the money sold everything. And came to Canada, 17 years ago with me. Anyway, I did not have good English. I wanted to study, I was very excited to come here. I wasn’t prepared for the cold at all. You’re not. But I wanted to be a pharmacist, but did not have enough English. So I wanted to study, but I learned a little bit of accounting and I helped my father at the store. They told a lot of good books. the groceries items that are community would like, here, the store was located in western Toronto, you call it overcome And we had a lot of people who came and bought from us and we made a lot of friends, but Covid changed everything.

Anyway, I should tell you, my father is no longer with us. As he passed away a year ago from cancer. When my father passed away, his estate. Gave me the chance to put the money and I put it in my family account. So, I will be able to take care of Jay, and in my family. I found out not too long after it was. Rajesh took the money and put it elsewhere another account. I have no idea where it is. and I’m very upset. I want to make sure that money was okay for Jai’s education. Make sure our family is, okay, taking care of and now I don’t know what to do. Initially, when my father got sick, Raja said, He’ll take care of it. I believed him. He was responsible for the family finances. Okay. That’s how it is in our community. I only had a little bit of money, I had access to an access card. That what you call it? A couple hundred dollars a month to buy groceries. Make sure Jayan has proper running shoes. He’s a growing boy. 15 years old. They spent a lot of money in clothes. But not too much for me afterwards, I was expected to come home clean. Take care of his parents, the grocery store, my son. Everything. I wasn’t told anything. About what he will do with money.

He did not want me to get a proper job. I volunteered at the library. Wasn’t happy about that. I made some friends.
This is a library at my son’s high school, I really loved it and I learned a lot about Canadian culture.
And a lot about Canadian language. And I know, I know I want to be something one day, not sure. But I know this is not right.
I want to know how to get my bunny back. Not sure how to do it. I want your help to tell me how
And I want my son. To enjoy being here. And enjoy being. Having the freedom. For education and not worry about this problem.
Whenever I got the access card. He would always be upset when I asked for more money. And whenever my father gave me some extra money for me to buy, maybe some trouble salwar kameez or a new study to go to Temple.

Raja should be very angry. He did not like me to have extra money. This is not fair.
I take care of everything in his family. What is he expect from me? I want to know. What I could do with very little. And the money, my father gave me.
I’m hoping to take care of my family better. Especially my son.

And now, I should have known. He did not want me to get a proper job. I volunteered at the library. He wasn’t happy about that. I made some friends. This is the library at my son’s high school, I really loved it. And I learned a lot about Canadian culture and a lot about Canadian language. And I know, I know I want to be something one day, not sure. But I know this is not right. I want to know how to get my money back. Not sure how to do it. I want your help to tell me how.

I want my son. To enjoy being here. And enjoy being. Having the freedom. But education and not worry about these problems. Whenever I got the access card. You would always be upset when I asked for more money. And whenever my father gave me some extra money for me to buy, maybe some scarves to go to Temple. Raja was very angry.
