Newborn Assessment and Care: The Case of Baby Leo
Case Scenario:
- Initiate and develop a therapeutic relationship with the family.
- Complete a comprehensive, holistic assessment of a newborn including physical health, achievement of developmental milestones, and family integration and functioning.
- Communicate the findings of the assessment to parents.
- Provide guidance, health teaching and therapeutic interventions as indicated.
- Demonstrate a clinical encounter that fosters and ensures parental/family collaboration, communication and a sense of satisfaction and confidence in their ability to fulfill their role(s) in the care of the newborn.
