  • Examine the transitions of care within the acute system and identify what constitutes an “acute” or “life-threatening” illness.
  • Discuss the similarities and differences between clients’ needs in emergent care, inpatient care, critical care, ambulatory care and rehabilitation.
  • Identify strategies to support clients and their families experiencing acute and life-threatening illnesses.
  • Consider strategies for delivering culturally competent care.
