Module 1: Introduction & Overview of NP Role in LTC

1.1.2 Components of NP practice

Canadian Nurses Association (CNA)[1][2] identifies and describes components of NP practice and includes:

•Education
•Autonomous role for NPs
•Benefits
•Impact to patient care
•Locations of work across Canada

NPs are a growing profession and additional opportunities are available in the Long-Term Care (LTC) setting. This curriculum was designed to support NPs working in LTC.

LTC homes, also commonly known as nursing homes or care homes, are places where people receive 24-hour functional support and care for daily living activities.
