89 3.5.1 Resident/SDM/Caregiver Education

Education within the LTC sector extends beyond the staff employed.

Much of the work within the LTC sector aims to educate residents, and their support systems on the many issues which may affect their stay and life in LTC.

Some examples of how NPs support with education for residents, substitute decision makers and caregivers include:

  • Advanced Care Planning and Goals of Care
  • Illness specific conversations and early identification
  • Palliative care conversations
  • Group education sessions
