  • Assist with communication between facilities, and between the various care providers
  • Monitoring the safety of residents
  • Touchless hardware and voice-activated devices
  • Artificial intelligence

Technologies used in LTC include the following[2]:

  • Improved data for improved outcomes: Analytics technology
  • Better communications can lead to better care: Technology improves communication to the circle of care
  • Videoconferencing technology can keep residents connected: Videoconferencing can increase the total time of social interaction patients have with their friends and family.
  • Games and videos can stimulate activity and boost mood: Video games can encourage patients to increase physical activity and have fun!
  • Virtual reality headsets can aid in addressing limitations or health challenges related to aging: Assist patients, to see the world around, and to engage in various activities and sceneries.
  • Wearable technology can improve health and safety: Wearable devices can  track biometric data that can warn health providers of impending issues.
  • Visitor management apps prevent disease spread: Visitor management apps can avoid risky disease transmission by ensuring visitors check in securely.
