1.6.2 Education

APNs support the following related to education:

  • Plan, initiate, coordinate & provide educational programs based on needs, priorities & resources
  • Disseminate knowledge through formal/informal means including presentations and/or publications at local, regional, national and international levels
  • Identify learning needs of nurses and other health care team members and identify or develop programs/resources
  • Support as a mentor, preceptor, coach/role model for nurses and other members of the health care team
  • Create learning opportunities to optimize client care
  • Contribute to knowledge, clinical skills and abilities of health care team members/providers
  • Contribute to & advocate for organizational culture that supports professional learning, continuing education & collaborative practice
  • Builds capacity and contributes to succession planning through mentoring
  • Participate in collaborative projects with academic institutions & maintain cross-appointments[1]
