In the research domain, APNs support the following related to research:

  • Identify & implement research based innovations to improve client care, organizations or systems
  • Identify, appraise & apply research, practice guidelines and current best practice
  • Identify, conduct & support research (investigator or collaborator) to enhance nursing practice, client outcomes & healthcare delivery
  • Evaluate practice related to research findings
  • Collect data, evaluate outcomes of APN on client outcomes, nursing profession & health care system or health care delivery
  • Appraise research through participating in scoping/systematic reviews of literature for best practice or clinical guidelines development
  • Facilitate evidence-informed practice by acting as knowledge broker for nurses and other health care providers
