88 3.5 Health Professional Learners

The WHO[1] defines interprofessional education occurring “when two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.”

Professionals supporting these teams include but are not limited to:

  • Nursing (RN, RPN/LPN, PSW)
  • Allied health (SW, OT/OTA, PT/PTA, SLP, RD)
  • Pharmacy
  • Primary care (NP, MD)
  • Specialty care (geriatrics, geriatric psychiatry, OD, DDS, etc.)
  • Community partners (behaviour supports, palliative care etc.)

Supporting health professional learners:
