146 6.2.2 Conflict
Conflict:
- A process occurring between individuals or groups as they experience negative emotional reactions to perceived disagreements
- Miscommunication is a common factor in conflicts
- Is a normal part of working in a large teams
- Can be an opportunity to drive change and to build relationships
- Can escalate into open hostility, villainizing the other person, and staff taking sides in the conflict[1]
Conflict escalation stages:
- Accommodating
- Problem Solving
- Personal Antagonism
- Issue Multiplication
- Triangulation
- Open Hostility
- Change in Social Structure[2][3]
