Knowledge Translation

Knowledge translation (KT) means making technical and complicated information and research easier to understand and use[1].

The Knowledge-to-action framework consists of two components:

  1. Knowledge Creation: represents the production and synthesis of knowledge and includes 3 stages:
    • Knowledge inquiry
    • Knowledge synthesis
    • Knowledge tools/products
  2. Action Cycle: includes 7 stages which consists of activities required for effective implementation of knowledge.
    • Identify problem/determine the know/do gap, select knowledge
    • Adapt knowledge to local context
    • Assess barriers/facilitators to knowledge use
    • Select, tailor, implement interventions
    • Monitor knowledge use
    • Evaluate outcomes
    • Sustain knowledge use[2][3]
