139 Module 6: Consultation & Collaboration in LTC Practice

In this module, you will review the Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) Framework related to consultation and collaboration and its application to NP practice in the LTC setting. You will gain knowledge around the consultation and collaborative practice in LTC and appreciate the opportunity to engage, apply and facilitate this practice in supporting your residents in meeting their care needs and supporting you in your primary care practice.

This module is offered through asynchronous learning format including self-directed and reflective learning, videos, resident examples and pre and post-test evaluation to support your learning needs.

Learning Objectives

This module will enable nurse practitioners, primary care practitioners and students to:

  1. Review collaborative practice models in LTC.

    Discuss the NP/MD role and scope of practice in LTC  and include Role clarity and expectations; Mediating and managing conflict; Communication; and Relationship building.

     

  2. Explore mentorship including knowledge translation and orienting new NPs.

     

  3. Describe integration of the following in developing your practice support network; LTC network membership; Credentialing; Association membership; and Communities of practice.
