Questions provided by Karrianne Edwards from Ontario

  1. There can be several emotions that arise when we look at our own lived experiences, marginalization or personal examples of microaggressions. If you have experienced this in any capacity, what emotions came up for you and how did you self-soothe?
  2. The concept of empathy looks at one’s ability to hold a space for another person with an effort to understand their experience, emotions, and feelings. Identify ways that you can show the same empathy for yourself or towards others who have experienced biases, direct/indirect racism or various forms of micro-aggression.
  3. An individual’s lived experiences and emotions are real to them and should not be dismissed or minimized. What are some ways that we can validate Black people’s experiences of racism?
