Stop and Reflect

Reflect on Natalie, Amira, Nickaya, Nickaya and Savannah’s messages and challenge your mindset by completing the following checklist and response prompt:

  1. Look around your classroom or place of employment. Is there adequate representation of Black people?
  2. Find out what policies and practices your institution has in place to help improve representation of Black students entering and graduating from your program.
  3. Look for policies and practices your institution has for recruiting and retaining Black dietitians and nutrition professionals. Did you find anything?

Action Item: If there are no intentional policies or practices currently in place at your institution, list a few that ought to exist. Who could you work with to help initiate, implement, and ultimately evaluate the outcome of these proposed policies and practices?
