This interactive scenario uses a series of videos and multiple-choice questions to enable you to apply your knowledge about workplace harassment safely and with low risk. In this activity, you will have the opportunity to view a snapshot of an interaction involving an employee named Samira. You will be presented with a few situations that Samira encounters and options on which choices you think she should make, as well as questions about the situations in general. As you make your selections, you will be able to gain insight into the impact of your choices on these real-life situations that may arise in the workplace.
Please take a few minutes to go through the scenario below. After you have completed the activity, please review and reflect upon the discussion questions that follow.
Discussion Questions
Discussion questions from the scenario include:
- What oppressive systems or attitudes are perpetuated in workplaces that prevent employees from inappropriate conduct by coworkers?
- In any of your past job/volunteer/placement positions, have you ever received training or materials that covered how to report harassment or discrimination, bullying or workplace violence?
- If you answered yes to the previous question, did you feel more aware of the options available to address the matter, possible outcomes, how your privacy may be protected and resources or support available to either anyone experiencing or with knowledge of an incident? What is some other information you have found helpful?
